Jim Frederickson is the owner of Gym-Kinetics Gymnastics School in Mokena, Illinois, where he also served as the Head Coach from 1985 until 2018. Jim’s years of dedication to coaching led to 6 USA Junior Olympic National Team Members, 68 National Qualifiers, and 21 Full Athletic Scholarships to Division I Colleges.

During his 30+ years as a head coach, Jim travelled the world, coaching some of the country’s finest gymnasts. Trips to Canada, England, France, Sweden, El Salvador, and China, along with competitions across the United States, has given Gym-Kinetics national recognition.

Jim and his coaching staff have been recognized as one of the top competitive programs in the State of Illinois, producing hundreds of State Champions, including Maddie “Maddog” Grobmeier, along with countless Regional and National Qualifiers over the past 30 years.

With all of the champions, national qualifiers, and scholarship recipients, Jim is most proud of the thousands of students that Gym-Kinetics helps develop every year—over 60 thousand students over the past 34 years.

Maddog was a fixture at Gym-Kinetics for over 16 years—starting in a Mom and Tot class before she was even two years old. She and Coach Jim had a very special relationship—Maddie often referring to him as her Second Dad. Jim remained by Maddie’s side the entire time she was hospitalized, including sharing in the Organ Donor Honor Walk with the Grobmeier family as she made her strongest and most selfless gift to save three lives.
